Wine Review: This opaque and dark red colored wine from Joseph Phelps is Excellent. It opens with a very fragrant red raspberry, craisin and red plum bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well-balanced, soft and refined. The flavor profile is a mild black currant and mineral blend with notes of gentle plum and faint oak. I also detected a hint of tea mixed in as well. The finish is dry and its well-managed tannins show very nice length. I would suggest enjoying this wine with a filet mignon. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 Insignia is fresh and focused on entry with expressive cocoa powder, graphite and earthy spices. Elegant and complex with a supple, creamy texture and bold tannins, this latest vintage offers luscious ripe plum and blackberry character with hints of roasted coffee and dark cherry throughout the palate to a long, velvety finish.
