Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Russian River opens with an attractive black raspberry bouquet with hints of black cherry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with notes of minerality. I also detected hints of oak and black currant mixed in. The finish is dry and its flavors linger for quite a while after the wine is gone. This unique Pinot is food friendly and would pair well with pork medallions with pinot noir-cherry pan sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Misterra was the winning suggestion in a “name-that-wine” contest we conducted last year. We love this new wine because it is full of mystery, but rooted in the earth. Also, we’re pretty certain no other winery can lay claim to using this particular blend of grapes. That earthiness comes through in this unique blend of three grapes varieties. You’ll love the sturdy, rustic flavors in the mouth and the aromatic floral and dried fruit on the nose. The suggested pairing our Misterra with grilled veggies, particularly Portobello mushrooms. The brooding, blueberry characteristics also make it a perfect match for a slow-cooked pot roast, complete with mirepoix and au jus.
