Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir opens with an inviting mild blueberry bouquet with a hint of cherry-cola. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced and very smooth. The flavor profile a pleasant and tasty blueberry and plum blend with hints if mild oak and cherry-cola. The finish is dry and its fine tannins and flavors drift away nicely. This wine is very food friendly and versatile. I would pair this Pinot with veal medallions with a fig and mushroom sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 J Vineyards Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a rich expression of the cool-climate Western region of the Russian River Valley. This is a lush, dark wine layered with concentrated aromas of French roast coffee and rustic forest floor mushrooms. The bright acidity highlights an interesting red apple skin flavor, and there is a unique dried cranberry note at the finish. I suggest pairing this wine with a mushroom soup or a filet of salmon brushed lightly with extra virgin olive oil and baked on a cedar or oak wood plank.
