Wine Review: This Pinot from J was the winner of our first big blind tasting. It is ruby colored and opens with a fragrant plum and blueberry bouquet with a hint of toffee. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, nicely balanced, and smooth. The flavor profile is a pleasant black cherry with hints of coffee, vanilla oak and plum. The finish is dry, elegant and its dusty fine tannins linger for quite a while. The panel suggested pairing this Very Good Pinot with a grilled salmon steak, striped bass or grouper with marinated with olive oil and sea salt. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Aromas of earthy mushrooms and cocoa are joined by dark plum, cinnamon and minty vanilla. The 2009 "Nicole's Vineyard" Pinot Noir has a smooth entry on the palate with a long and rich spicy finish of delicious blackberry and dark cherry flavors. The real surprise comes with the herb, dark spice, and caramel undertones at the finish. This wine is the perfect accompaniment to wild game, such as venison, bison burgers, herb-roasted wild pig, or grilled salmon.
