Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot from J Vineyards opens with a very shy mild black raspberry bouquet with a hint of black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied and balanced. The flavor profile is a gentle cherry cola and plum blend with a hint of black pepper and oak. The finish is dry and its mild oak tannins are easy going. This wine improves a lot with some aeration. So decant it in the near term and serve it with grilled salmon steaks. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2008 Robert Thomas Pinot Noir features rose petal, violet and subtle vanilla toasty aromas. Earthy, ripe strawberry, cherry, and nuances of cranberry fill your mouth with silkiness balanced by a nice acidity. The fruit is gracefully layered with medium tannins that carry through to a lengthy finish lush with caramel and vanilla. This silky wine pairs well with broiled stuffed mushrooms, loaded with red peppers and crab meat.
