Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Merlot from J. Lohr opens with a blackberry and boysenberry bouquet with hints of muddled mint. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, juicy, and savory. The flavor profile is a boysenberry and black tea blend with notes of stewed red plum and stony minerality. I also detected hints of cedar, cinnamon, and strawberry. The finish is dry, and its fruity flavors and mild tannins linger nicely. I would pair this good value Merlot with a bacon burger.
