Wine Review: This dark garnet colored Carignan from J. Dusi opens with a black licorice and black raspberry bouquet with hints of cedar. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and seamless. The flavor profile is an Australian soft black licorice and mild black cherry blend with notes of black raspberry, and clove. I also detected hints of star-anise, black tea, and black pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors, fresh acidity, and well-managed medium tannins linger and last for a while. This wine benefits from a little aeration. I would pair this very good Carignan with Stuart’s steak treats. Enjoy - Ken
