Wine Review: This light yellow colored Chardonnay performed very well with the panel is our recent blind tasting. It opens with a mild pear bouquet with a hint of oak and butter. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, and savory. The flavor profile is a mineral infused apple with hints of pear, lemon and butter. The finish is dry and its acidity lingers nicely. The panel expressed how food friendly they felt this well-made Chard was. They suggested pairing it with Chicken St. Timothy and grill pressed lemon chicken. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Chardonnay hails primarily from Rancho Sarco Vineyard in Napa’s southern Coombsville region. It displays a light straw color with aromas of pear, hazelnut and lemon zest. A touch of honey and light barrel caramels accent flavors of lemon custard, pineapple, granny smith apple and wet stone. This wine was fermented using native yeast to promote an exotic flavor and aromatic profile. Given 2011 was a cooler vintage we allowed for 46% (6 barrels) malolactic fermentation to flesh the wine out.
