Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from the McLaren Vale is loaded with ripe fruit. It opens with a fragrant black raspberry bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and very juicy. The flavor profile is an extracted blackberry with notes of cedar and mild minerality. I also detected some black raspberry jam and craisin as well. The finish is dry and its flavors drift away nicely. There are no noticeable tannins. This wine reminds me of a highly refined Zinfandel. I would serve it in the near term with slow cooked braised short ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Trueman is the pinnacle of Clarendon Cabernet. This upland vineyard raises fruit of rare elegance without losing any of its perfumed intensity. There is nothing boisterous about it. Lithe tannins underlie a strap of lively blackberry, and perfect amounts of sinew, flesh and bright acidity guarantee a highly rewarding decade or two. Dead serious Cabernet for the aficionado.
