Wine Review: This dark red colored Sangiovese from Washington State opens with a red cherry bouquet with hints of raspberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and savory. The flavor profile is a tart mild cherry with notes of oak, minerality and a touch of blueberry. The finish is dry and its mild tannins linger for a bit. This Sangiovese would pair nicely with a pork tenderloin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is a powerful yet polite Sangiovese. First pour reveals dark cherry and roasted tomatoes emerging from a bed of black soil that is soon displaced by more elegant loam with young leather. The bouquet and aromatics are reflected on the palate where they embrace an exciting acidity that is mellowed by beautiful soft tannins and then engages with an intriguing accompaniment of coriander, plum sauce and black licorice. It displays the vigor and strength that we have come to expect from Stillwater Creek Sangiovese.
