Wine Review: This very light yellow colored Chardonnay from Hanzell shows that their Chardonnay’s ages very well. It opens with a lemon and golden delicious apple bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced and bright. The flavor profile is a golden delicious apple and gentle oak blend with notes of lemon verbena and butter and a touch of toffee. The finish is dry and has very nice length for a Chard. I would pair this Chard with lobster. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Exquisite aromas of Bosc pear, green mango, lemon zest and jasmine mingle with scents reminiscent of brioche, anise and dusty slate. While the expansive flavors echo the aromas, there is saline quality that gives a savory tone to the overall impression. The taught structure gives the sense of a lighter weight. However, over the course of a few hours in decanter or opened bottle, the mouthfeel gains richness and texture, suggesting great things over the next ten or more years for those patient enough to lay some away in their cellar.
