Wine Review: This pale ruby colored Pinot Noir from the Gap’s Crown Vineyard opens with a cherry bouquet with hints of cinnamon and oolong tea. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with zesty plus acidity. I also found it to be round and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a spiced red plum with notes of pomegranate. I also detected hints of blackberry, dried herbs and oak. The finish is rather dry and mild tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this Pinot with Sheri’s sausage stuffed mushrooms. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Dark and brooding, with elements of rustic, concentrated fruit and a savory backbone, this complex offering is a classic expression of wines from the Petaluma Gap. Black raspberry, dried cherries, and hints of blackberry jam work in concert with layers of tobacco leaf, saddle leather, and truffles. The mouthfeel is at once lush and expansive with ample tannic structure persistent throughout the mid-palate, while generous natural acidity provides a refreshing lift on the finish.
