Wine Review: This pitch black colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is a real big boy wine. It opens with a black currant and ripe Bing cherry bouquet with hints of black licorice and leather. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, rich and dense. The flavor profile is a concentrated black currant and black cherry blend with notes of black licorice, black pepper and cedar. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are well managed. I also found the flavors linger nicely as well. This big Cab is a late-night fireplace wine. I would love to hangout on the Lake George islands and sip this with some Old Croc cheddar cheese. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This wine exudes complex notes as soon as the cork is pulled. Rich dark fruit and berry characters with hints of cedar, olive and a clean earthiness that are attributed to top Napa Cabernet, add to the intriguing aromas. Held to the light, this elegant wine shimmers with a stunning deep purple-inky color that announces the intensity of the grapes. The palate has good structure and grip with more than ample tannins, although nicely balanced by fruit and spice. The 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet is rich, full and round from the initial taste and continuing as it fills the mouth, leading to a long, lingering, polished finish. Serve at room temperature with red meats, lamb, cheeses.
