Wine Review: This midnight purple colored wine from Epiphany opens with a fragrant blackberry and boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and completely coats your mouth with flavors. Those flavors are a tasty black currant and black licorice blend with notes of oak and black pepper. I also detected hints of black cherry, plum, and Slim Jim. It's pretty complex. The finish is dry and its flavors and tingly acidity are nicely prolonged. This wine would pair well with slow cooked barbecue beef brisket and baked beans. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: On the nose, you will find captivating aromas of black cherry, red plum, Herbs de Provence, blackberry compote, smoked meats, aged tobacco, baking spices and vanilla which are nicely rounded by the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry, dark chocolate, plum, nutmeg, vanilla, fennel and smoke. With firm tannins and a big mouthfeel, this wine has wonderful structure and a long, fresh finish.
