Wine Review: This slightly opaque and medium purple colored Merlot from Napa opens with a ripe black cherry and cassis bouquet with hints of wet gravel, tobacco leaf, and faint cola. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and very approachable. The flavor profile is cassis and black cherry blend with notes of stony minerality. We also detected hints of oolong tea, blueberry, oak, and anise at the very end. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would pair this crowd pleasing and food friendly Merlot with a French dip sandwich or with roast beef with Yorkshire pudding. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: From its tantalizing aromas of ripe cherry and black plum to its fine-grained tannins and lively complexity, this is a lovely expression of Napa Valley Merlot. On the palate, the flavors are rich and fleshy, with luxurious layers of black currant, red licorice, fig compote, blueberry and crushed rose petal flowing to a long, elegant finish.
