Wine Review: This hay-colored Chenin Blanc from Dry Creek Vineyard is a very good value. It opens with an Anjou pear and almond bouquet with hints of quince and dried apricot. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, smooth, slightly viscous, fresh, and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is tasty white peach and tonic water blend with notes of lemon verbena and quince. I also detected hints of stony minerality and white pepper. The finish is dry, and its flavors and acidity linger and show very nice length. I would pair this versatile and food friendly Chenin Blanc with a baked halibut with a lemon garlic butter. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: At first swirl, aromatics of honeydew, white peach, and jasmine spring forward from the glass with floral notes of citrus blossom, watermelon rind and pineapple. On the palate, the wine has refreshing flavors of peach, grapefruit, and jasmine with hints of mandarin, cucumber, and lemon curd. The mouthfeel is soft but inviting, with a lively acidity. This classic, Loire Valley-style wine is excellent when paired with fresh oysters, seafood, or just about anything!
