Wine Review: This very pale colored straw-colored Fume Blanc from Dry Creek is a good value. It opens with a very fragrant gooseberry and grapefruit bouquet with hints of honeysuckle and apricot. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with plus acidity. The flavor profile is a tart grapefruit and lemon verbena blend with notes of dusty crushed stone minerality and apricot pit. There are also some hints of ginger and peach at the very end. The finish is dry and refreshing. This is a very good summer beach wine. We would serve it chilled with some sunshine and good friends. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our 49th vintage of Fumé Blanc is a wine that emanates the classic Dry Creek Vineyard “house” style of Sauvignon Blanc. Aromatics of lime, lemon, apricot and mango leap forward from the glass with nuances of cucumber, lemongrass, and white pepper. On the palate, the wine is intense and bright with grapefruit, passionfruit, and white peach. Underlying minerality and hints of jasmine, fresh cut grass and jalapeño contribute to this wine’s refreshing, crisp finish.
