Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Zinfandel from Dry Creek opens with a black cherry bouquet with a hint of black raspberry and old leather. On the palate, this wine is light to medium bodied, balanced, and very easy going. The flavor profile is a gentle black raspberry with a hint of black currant. I also detected some oak towards the end. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are quite sticky and linger for quite a while. This Zin is quite elegant in the mouth, yet finishes real big. So I would pair it with a thick cut of prime rib for a perfect match. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2008 Heritage Zinfandel, blended from Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley fruit, shows off all that is appealing about Zinfandel. The warm 2008 vintage gave us beautifully ripe grapes. Aromas of raspberries, cherries and spicy oak are followed by flavors of blueberry pie and dark chocolate. This is a very well balanced wine, flavorful and smooth, made for daily enjoyment.
