Wine Review: This garnet-colored Merlot from Davis Estates opens with a cedar and black raspberry bouquet with hints of cinnamon, new leather, black currant, and a touch of black pepper. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with nicely integrated plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and dense. The flavor profile is a cedar and black currant blend with notes of cinnamon tea and blackberry. We also detected hints of cardamon, tobacco, and anise. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and dusty polished tannins are nicely sustained The Tasting Panel would pair this Merlot with a porterhouse steak. Enjoy - KWGTP

Winemaker Notes: The 2021 Merlot has striking flashes of red as it is swirled in the glass. Elegant aromas of cranberry, rhubarb, and soft barrel spices intermingle with earthy elements of stone, wet clay, and dusty black tea. These aromatic components flow beautifully onto the palate as delicious blackberry and wild bramble join the dance amidst a structure of soft and rounded tannins. The bright fruit and smooth finish of this wine make it very approachable today, but it will drink well for the next few years.
