Wine Review: This dark red colored Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley opens with red licorice and black raspberry bouquet. I also sensed a touch of alcohol peeking through as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and easy going. The flavor profile is a mild black cherry and old oak blend with a hint of cola and black pepper. On day two, a little blueberry showed up and this wine fully came together. The finish is dry and its flavors linger and are nicely prolonged. This Zin is food friendly and will improve with just a little decanting. I would pair it with Braciole Di Vitello. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Color: Reddish purple Aroma: Deeply aromatic structure of black raspberry, black cherry, and peppery spice. The initial fruit is followed with aromas of dark chocolate and mineral, and a deep earthy, almost truffle, aroma. Taste: Lots of black raspberry and chocolate on entry. Substantial tannins which are both supple and velvety. Complex blend of red fruit, chocolate, clove spice, full-bodied, long sweet finish of black raspberry fruit and spice. Shows a beautifully long and spicy finish. A long aging wine.
