Wine Review: This Merlot from Dark Horse was the shocker of our first big blind tasting. Against several much higher priced wines, this very good Merlot stood strong. It is dark ruby colored and opens with a appealing blueberry and black cherry bouquet with hints of musty cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, fruit forward and savory. The flavor profile is black cherry and plum with notes of oak and a hint of minerality and blackberry. The finish is dry and has moderate tannins that stick around for a while. The panel suggested pairing this incredible value Merlot with grilled veal chop and mushroom ravioli. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Our Dark Horse Merlot has a robust and fruit-driven taste. Flavors of blackberry and blueberry mingle notes of brown spice and molasses for a distinct wine with a long, plush finish.
