Wine Review: This slightly cloudy and dark ruby colored Cabernet Franc based blend from DAOU opens with a pomegranate tea and toasted coconut bouquet with hints of chocolate and violets. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile is stewed black plum and mocha blend with notes of coconut and tobacco. We also detected hints of bay leaf, toasted oak, and graphite. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and well managed dusty tannins are very nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with a New York strip steak. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Inspired by the classics of Saint-Émilion, the DAOU Reserve Seventeen Forty is a Cabernet Franc-driven wine with a harmonious complement of Merlot.
