Wine Review: This midnight purple colored Merlot based wine from DAOU opens with a toasted coconut and chocolate bouquet with hints of cranberry and red plum. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, and smooth. The flavor profile is a dark chocolate and black currant blend with notes of cedar and black cherry. I also detected hints of craisin and vanilla. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity, and moderate dusty tannins are nicely prolonged. The Tasting Panel would pair this red blend with lamb stew. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Deep red hues yield to aromas of violet, black cherry, blueberry, strawberry pie, and baking spices with dried herb accents. A round, velvety mouthfeel delivers layers of blackberry, black cherry, chocolate-covered berry, cedar, and cola. Fine tannins and fresh acidity broaden into a long, lingering finish.
