Wine Review: This Pinot from Cristom with appeal to some and not to others. If you like South African styled reds, you will love this Pinot. It has a heavy dose of oak that drives this wine. It is bright red colored and opens with a mild smoky oak and black raspberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and rather savory. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry with a good dose of integrated oak and a dash of black pepper that show thru into the finish. Also on the finish, the wine expresses medium tannins. This Pinot shows more structure than most 2007 Oregon Pinots. It would be a very good match for a seasoned pork tenderloin. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Tasted with a year of bottle age, Marjorie reminded me of a raspberry creamsicle. It is the lightest in color of our single vineyard bottlings. On the nose, it has the classic Pinot Noir aroma of faded rose petals, along with a smorgsbord of sweet-earthy-spicy notes. The wine delivers a pure velvet texture, more ripe red fruit and a kiss of caramel on the palate. More will be revealed in the shorter term with a little time in your cellar.
