Wine Review: This very dark midnight purple colored Merlot from Washington State is a terrific value. It opens with fragrant black raspberry bouquet with hints of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is medium to full bodied, balanced, smooth and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty black raspberry and mild smoky old oak blend with hints minerlity. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins linger slightly. This wine is food friendly and a very good value. I would pair it with a juicy bacon burger. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The '13 Rook is a beautiful Merlot from two Yakima Valley vineyards. Showing red and black fruits, sarsaparilla, orange peel, cinnamon and tobacco, this crisply textured red is balanced by fine grained tannins and a rich, pillow soft mid-palate.
