Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Syrah from Copain opens with a faint strawberry bouquet with hints of blueberry and florals. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well-balanced and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty mild plum with notes of gentle minerality. We also detected hints of cinnamon, cedar and red currant. The finish is dry and its fine tannins sail away nicely. This Syrah shows nice finesse. It would pair well with a pork roast. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: The 2016 "Les Voisins" Syrah is a real expression of the Yorkville Highlands appellation. On the nose, hints of lavender intertwined with violet, and blueberry. Sturdy tannins and a nervy grip give this wine its spine. As the wine opens up, savory aromas of seared meats and rosemary emerge. The wine is certainly testy at this point, but with an hour’s decant, the wine is open for business. This wine will continue to evolve in interesting ways over the next 10 years, as new, hidden layers come in into focus.
