Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Beaujolais from the Morgon commune opens with a very fragrant boysenberry and black raspberry bouquet with hints clove and black licorice. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with notes of medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and savory. The flavor profile a tasty blackberry and black tea blend with notes of stony minerality, black cherry, and strawberry licorice. I also detected hints of clove, cedar, and black plum. The finish is dry, and its moderate tannins show very nice length. This Gamay would pair very well with duck confit or with Jiko’s wild boar tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: With cherry and spice notes, this Morgon pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, poultry, and goat cheese. The wine is full and harmonious in color, roundness and structure, evoking aromas of ripe red fruits.
