Wine Review: This Merlot based wine from Pomerol is very impressive. It opens with dark chocolate and espresso bouquet with hints of black cherry and moist pipe tobacco. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, smooth, and elegant. The flavor profile is a black currant and black tea blend with notes of stony minerality and plum. We also detected some hints of black licorice and oak in the mix. The finish is dry and its polished dusty tannins drift away nicely. The Tasting Panel would serve this wine with a porterhouse steak. Enjoy – KWGTP
