Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Pinot Noir from Chalone opens with a black currant and faint prune bouquet with a hint of violet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, really smooth, and rich. The flavor profile is an extracted black raspberry and concentrated stewed black plum blend with notes of black licorice and black olive. I also detected hints of chai tea. The finish is dry, and its flavors and moderate managed tannins are nicely extended. I would pair this big boy Pinot with duck breast with a blackberry sauce. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2019 Reserve embodies everything you’d desire from a Pinot Noir. Vibrant cherry and raspberry, forest floor and truffle greet the nose. On the palate, plum and spice with chalky minerality are framed by a viscous, luxurious mouthfeel and velveteen tannins.
