Wine Review: This midnight blue colored Cabernet Sauvignon was one of our big winners in our recent big blind tasting of High End Reds. It finished in 3rd place and was awarded 93 points. It opens with a fragrant ripe black cherry bouquet with hints of cassis, leather, and oak. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, rich and smooth. The flavor profile is a concentrated black cherry and black raspberry blend with notes of dark chocolate and hints of blueberry. The finish is dry and its flavors and moderate tannins stick around for quite a while. The panel suggested pairing this special Cab with roast duck by the fireplace on a cold winter night. Enjoy - KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: A rich, dense ruby color, hints at the dark fruit nose of blackberry and currant that carries through to the palate, interwoven with complex aromas of black licorice, anise and crème de cassis. On the palate, the wine opens up to reveal an earthiness, with brown spice, cigar box and ripe dark fruits that linger throughout the extracted and long finish. The texture is opulent and rich, yet has a velvety quality with supple density. Rich, fine-grained tannins are balanced with ripe fruit, acidity and oak.
