Wine Review: This ruby colored Chianti Classico from Castello di Verrazzano opens with an old leather and black cherry bouquet with hints of cigar box. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with integrated medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is nicely balanced, round, and very easy to drink. The flavor profile is a cedar and red licorice blend with notes of slightly tart cherry and blackberry. I also detected hints of stone dust. The finish is dry, and its flavors, acidity and fine tannins linger nicely. This wine benefits from some aeration. So, after a little breathing, I would pair this very good Chianti Classico with a Tuscan wild boar ragu with pappardelle pasta. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Tasting: Ruby red color with purplish reflexes, intense scent, rich in flavors of red mature fruits such as cherry and blackberry blended with floral notes. The taste is harmonic and with a great balance, good structure, sapid, with oak striations, a fine and sweet tannic component, and pleasant hints of red fruits.
Coupling: Tuscan appetizers and red meat.
