Wine Review: This dark ruby colored wine from Portugal is very impressive and will leave you with a lasting impression. It opens with a very attractive mulberry bouquet with hints of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, nicely balanced, juicy and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a ripe mulberry and blueberry blend with notes black cherry. I also detected hints of gentle minerality along with some faint oak and black tea. The finish is dry and its well managed tannins sail on for quite some time. I would pair this gem with a New York strip steak. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Complex, highly concentrated aroma, including blackberry, hints of licorice, spices, violets, bergamot and rock rose, balanced with very elegant notes of French oak. Long and full, the fruit is evident in the finish. Very ripe, smooth and firm tannins, fresh and extremely elegant, promising excellent ageing in the bottle. Enjoy with meat and game dishes, cured cheeses or simply with a cigar.
