Wine Review: This pitch black colored Syrah opens with a fragrant ripe blackberry bouquet with a hint of espresso. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, juicy, and initially rather expressive. With some air, it smoothed out nicely, so decanting is suggested. The flavor profile is a ripe blackberry with notes of black pepper and a hint of black currant. The finish is quite dry and its dusty moderate tannins stick with you for some time. This wine is very big and substantial. It should show well for several years. I would cellar it a bit. However, if you can’t wait, pair it with beef brisket and enjoy. Cheers - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Black ruby-purple. Glass-staining. A perfumed nose of blackberry, game, and spring flowers lead to flavors of crushed rock, tar, pepper, and black fruits. Cornas on steroids! The richness and extract completely cloak the considerable tannins and acidity. A very special Syrah that should age extremely well. Drink 2010 through 2020. - MRO
