Wine Review: This very dark ruby colored Cabernet Sauvignon from Red Mountain opens with a black currant and black cherry bouquet with notes of pencil lead. On the palate, this wine is full bodied with medium acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round and dry. The flavor profile is similar to the nose, featuring red currant and macerated black cherries with notes of graphite and oak. I also detected some hints of black raspberry, Chinese five spice, and red licorice towards the end. The finish is dry, and its dusty tannins stick around for very long time. I would recommend decanting this Cab in the near term and pairing it with a New York Strip steak. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This lush and alluring Cabernet Sauvignon begins with aromas of ripe strawberry, grenadine and Bing cherry that leap from the glass, followed by notes of sarsaparilla, root spices, black licorice cinnamon and star anise. On the palate it is both luxurious and energetic, with plush tannins and ripe red berry flavors balanced by enlivening energy and sophisticated hints of cigar wrapper, granitic minerality and sweet baking spices.
