Wine Review: This red colored Pinot Noir from Calera opens with tea, red plum, and black cherry bouquet with notes of oak, spice, and cocoa powder. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, round, bright and has nice tension. The flavor profile is a stewed red plum, spice, and oolong tea blend with notes of black cherry and oak. We also picked up some hints of red currant and rhubarb. The finish is dry, and its fine gained tannins are very nicely extended. The Tasting Panel would pair this very versatile and food friendly Pinot with a pork belly with mushroom polenta, beef wellington, Bull Run’s prime rib, or beef bourguignon. Enjoy – KWGTP
Winemaker Notes: Now over two decades in age, the Pinot Noir plantings from Ryan Vineyard on Mt. Harlan have produced a beautifully vibrant and expressive wine with red cherry and cola aromas, as well as flavors of fresh plum, white pepper, and cocoa. On the palate it is energetic and lively, with supple tannins and a bright, impeccably balanced finish.
