Wine Review: strawberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very smooth, soft and you can tell it is well-made. The flavor profile is a gentle plum with notes of mild minerality and Bing cherry. I also detected hints of faint oak. This elegant Cab Franc is dry and its well managed refined mild tannins drift away nicely. This Cab Franc reminded our tasters of an soft Pinot. It is super food friendly. I would serve it in the near term with veal scallopini. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2013 Alegría Cab Franc shows a fresh nose of boysenberry and violets, with back notes of leather and wet granite. On the palate, flavors of ripe boysenberries and cherries are backed by nice minerality and medium tannins. Without time in new oak, the terroir of the Alegría vineyard shines through, giving a fresh rendition of cab franc that will pair nicely with simply grilled steaks.
