Wine Review: This opaque and very dark ruby colored Syrah opens with a Nilla wafer and blackberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, smooth and coats your mouth nicely. The flavor profile is a toasty oak and blackberry blend with notes espresso and black currant. I also detected hints of minerality. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins are very sticky, linger, and last for quite a while. This is a big boy Syrah and it would pair well with beef satay. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The 2011 Austin Hope Syrah has a rich, deep purple color. It displays aromas of blackberry and earth. The textural wine has an invigorating acidity supporting flavors of blueberry and blackberry fruit, leather, and licorice. The finish is long, with notes of smoked herb-rubbed meats.
