Wine Review: This ruby colored Grenache from Paso Robles opens with black cherry and devil’s food cake bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very smooth and fruit forward. The flavor profile is a tasty boysenberry with nicely integrated milk chocolate and blueberry. I also detected hints of raspberry liquor and bacon. The finish is dry and its flavors and mild tannins are nicely prolonged. The fruit bomb Grenache would pair very well with Sticky Fingers barbecue ribs. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: Like the season before, the 2011 growing season in Paso Robles began with heavy rainfall and cooler temperatures. Grapes were hand-picked and then fermented in five-ton, open-top tanks. The 2011 Austin Hope Grenache has a gorgeous ruby hue. It displays sweet aromas of dried cranberry, raspberry and plum; traces of allspice, vanilla and cinnamon add complexity in the background.
