Wine Review: This pale straw colored Pinot Grigio from Italy opens with a funky petrol and mild grapefruit bouquet that dissipates with swirling. There was also a little wet slate mixed in as well. On the palate, this wine is light bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a mineral infused green apple with notes of white pepper. We also detected hints of yellow grapefruit, lime and peach pit. It closes with a dry quick and subtle finish. The Panel suggested pairing it with bacon wrapped scallops or shrimp scampi. Winemaker Notes: The wine appears a very luminous, light yellow-gold. The bouquet, seductive and pronounced, releases crisp citrus alternating with ripe apricot, enriched with elegant floral impressions of hawthorn and acacia blossom. The supple palate offers exemplary crispness and a vibrant fruitiness. This versatile Pinot Grigio makes a delicious aperitif wine, and is the perfect partner to rich salads and fish-based dishes. It is superb with any summertime fare.
