Wine Review: This dark ink colored Malbec based "Red Blend" from Alamos is medium bodied with a bold earthy bouquet of ripe blackberries, plum, light tobacco and herbs. I would recommend decanting this wine for an hour or so to let the tannins mellow and balance out. On the palate, this wine has dusty tannins with black-cherry, integrated oak with plums, strawberry and vanilla bean and good structure. I would have this Red Blend with a slab of baby back ribs slathered with a thick barbecue sauce. - Joe
Winemaker Notes: Our Alamos Red Blend has spicy flavors of black pepper and blackberry fruit from the Syrah, and juicy dark cherry flavors from the Bonarda. Both of these varieties marry well with the dark plum flavors of Malbec. Tempranillo adds an intriguing edge with its lively strawberry nuances that mingle perfectly with hints of oak. A warm brown spice character from the oak and a rich mouthfeel deliver a bold and very approachable wine.
