Wine Review: Petite Sirah fans, take notice. There is a new kid on the block and his name is Aaron Jackson. He makes Petite Sirah and only Petite Sirah. Let me tell you, he knows what he is doing. His entry level wine is called Swell. It is opaque and dark purple colored. It opens with a fragrant ripe boysenberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, balanced, and quite juicy. The flavor profile is a very tasty ripe and concentrated black raspberry with notes of black pepper throughout. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins linger nicely. This is a fun and friendly Petite Sirah that would pair perfectly with a messy rack of ribs. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: The Swell project is meant to put into every hand an unpretentious, monster Petite Sirah that still saves a few bucks for cheap pizza. Sourced from the same vineyards as the Aaron Petite Sirah, Swell is still a massive beast, yet a touch more lithe in its approach. Like a chocolate covered black cherry, the Swell builds over your mid palate with roasted meat and bright spice notes, maintaining its fruit-driven profile and finishing soft and long.
