Wine Review: I love big and intense Zin, but many fade after years in the cellar. So on vacation recently, I thought I would pull this option from Rosenblum from the cellar. This wine opens with an intense black cherry bouquet with hints of spicy pepper. On the palate, this full bodied wine is smooth and intensely flavored. It is still big, lush, and displays extracted blackberry and black licorice like flavors. The finish is very dry and extremely persistent. This is a wine that will continue to drink well on its own for a while. You could also have it with a porterhouse steak with a rich sauce. Rosenblum is one of the few producers who make big enough Zinfandel to keep in the cellar and not lose it fruit over time. As you will see with this wine, it is still going strong 4 years later. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The bouquet of this rich, extracted wine shows ripe black cherry and black currant with hints of vanilla and black pepper. The flavors are ripe black cherry, currant and creamy spice with notes of dark chocolate. This rich Dry Creek Zin will nicely accompany hearty pasta and grilled marinated salmon, slow-smoked pork ribs, or duck l’orange.
