Wine Review: This ruby colored Zin caught the attention of the mini panel I put together over the Easter weekend. It opens with a light black cherry bouquet with a hint of attractive menthol as well. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, well balanced, smooth, and very easy to drink. The flavor profile is a very tasty black cherry with a touch of dark chocolate on the back palate. The finish is dry and its well managed tannins are very nicely prolonged. This elegant Zin remind me more of the food friendly 2005 vintage. It is very impressive for the 2006 vintage. We would pair it with pork tenderloin or coq au vin. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Planted in 1882, the Beeson Ranch is one of Dry Creek Valley’s oldest and most prized vineyards. The old gnarled vines, first planted by Italian immigrants, provide dramatic aromas of white pepper, cardamom, and dried floral elements. On the palate, supple tannins mingle with blackberry and dark cherry flavors. The finish is long and pure with expressive Zinfandel characters.
