Wine Review: In my opinion, winemaker John Leidenfrost makes one of the best Gewürztraminer’s in all of the Finger Lakes. For the second vintage in a row, I have found this winery creates everything that I like in a Gewürz. This light yellow wine opens with a ripe pear like bouquet with hints of lychee. On the palate, this medium bodied wine is balanced, a touch of sweetness, with wonderful tasty ripe pear like flavors with again notes of lychee. The finish is off dry and lingers nicely for some time. This terrific Gewürz would pair perfect with any creamed dishes like creamed chicken with scalloped potatoes. We really admired winemakers who can strike that perfect balance of flavor, acidity, sweetness, aroma, and flavor that make this wine great. Kudos to John – Enjoy – Ken
