Wine Review: We recently tried 3 wines from this producer. We were quite impressed. This offering is a blend of 3 white grapes that you normally don’t see mixed together. Especially the Ribolla. That said, winemaker Steve Matthiasson has come up with a formula that I found quite appealing. This light yellow wine opens with a mineral infused lime like bouquet with some apricot notes. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, with nicely integrated acidity and balance. The flavor profile is ripe Bartlett pear with some honey and noted minerality throughout. The finish is dry, refreshing, tingly, and the minerality persists. This is a very food friendly wine and would pair well with shellfish meals. Coquille St. Jacques comes to mind. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The wine is a blend of Sauvignon blanc, Ribolla gialla, and Semillon. The Sauvignon blanc brings a clean fresh citrusy acidity. The Ribolla gialla gives a unique minerality, spice, and structure to the blend. The Semillon contributes viscosity and the ripe fig and beeswax character that adds gravity and weight. The acidity and fruit expression is balanced by the rich lees character and the sweetness of the oak. There is interplay in the wine between lightness and richness, and focus and complexity. The Ribolla gialla, with its weight and slight tannic grip, ties the wine together and brings a dimension of length and interest.
