Wine Review: This is the second vintage in a row that we have recommended “The Mariner.” This years version is very dark opaque purple in color. It opens with a chocolate covered blackberry like bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, very smooth, and well balanced. There is initially a blast of very enjoyable black berry flavors. Followed by notes of savory black current flavors as well. The finish is dry and slightly prolonged. The group thought you could have this wine on its own or perhaps with a bacon wrapped pork tenderloin. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is the second vintage of our premier Meritage blend, The Mariner. Utilizing all five of the noble Bordeaux varieties, this wine displays compelling aromas of wild black cherry, blueberry, and dried flowers. On the palate, the fruit shines through with succulent cherry, dark chocolate, and cassis that integrate seamlessly with silky smooth tannins. The finish is memorable for its lingering fruit flavors that balance perfectly with creamy vanilla oak nuances.
