Wine Review: At a recent holiday party that I was hosting with friends, I decided to pull out this 2005 Bordeaux to see how it was showing. The results were thumbs up. This very dark purple colored wine opens with a black cherry and light oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, savory, very nicely balanced, tasty and elegant. The flavor profile is lead by black currant with black cherry and mineral notes on the back palate. The finish is quite dry and its slightly building tannins are quite long. This is a sign that this wine has quite a bit of longevity. If you are not that patient, this wine would be a wonderful accompaniment to a NY strip steak in a brown demi glaze sauce with sautéed mushrooms. Enjoy - Ken
