Wine Review: I recently attended a "Syrah/Shiraz" wine tasting @ the Boston Wine School. This value wine from Thorn Charke was one of the stars of the evening. This dark purple wine has a slightly hot blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is smooth, silky, and well balanced. It has delightful black current flavors with hints of menthol and pepper. The finish is dry, elegant, and nicely extended. This wine will match well with barbeque ribs and will be quite the crowd pleaser at the picnic. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: The colour is a deep inky purple. The nose is a complex mixture of lifted berry fruit, pencil shavings/chocolate oak and ripe plums. There is a floral lift from the Petit Verdot component. The palate is medium to full bodied. Due to the complexity of the blend, the palate starts with sweet plums and spice and then become blackcurrants and liquorice with dark chocolate interwoven throughout the mouth. Soft and sweet tannins then follow on with some great sweet fruit.
