Wine Review: I like fun red wines that are affordable and easy to enjoy. I came across this good value wine at a recent tasting of Paso Robles wines. This wine has a fresh fruit influenced bouquet. On the palate, the wine is round, has nice flavors, and is tasty. This wine is a good match for grilled foods lathered in barbeque sauce. The finish is dry and quite prolonged. Enjoy this wine – Ken
Winemaker Notes: ZC Red is true to it’s namesake, straight forward uncomplicated red wine for everyday occasions. It is not uncommon for small producers have a stock of "house wine" that they drink on a regular basis, usually unlabeled blends taken straight from the barrel. ZC Red is just that, our everyday house red, only bottled to share. The blend is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, and 19% Cabernet Franc grown entirely on the home vineyard, open top fermented and barrel aged. The Merlot adds a strong fruit element, and the Cabernet franc Lends a more delicate fruit and spice.
